Australia's Richest

Latte Art Competition

Pura/Dairy Farmers Latte Art
Championship 2010

2nd & 3rd May at Cafe Biz 10

Habib Maarbani Wins!

Café Biz 2010 set the scene for another exciting round of coffee

artistry with baristas old and new entertaining the enthusiastic crowd.  Habib Maarbani stretched, etched and free poured his way into the winning position with a faultless display behind the Expobar Ruggero coffee machine.  Fiefy Anuwatanaphorn took second place, holding the winning score until Maarbani took the stage, while in third place we saw a relative new comer to the stage in Emily Yin.

The team from Pura/Dairy Farmers and Café Biz were excited about the growing interest in the competition and it is obvious that the bar has been raised for the standard of baristas out in the cafes.

Congratulations to all contestants, Habib, Fiefy and Emily.  It’s great to see passionate baristas reaping the rewards they deserve.

Past Winners

Winner 2009

Congratulations Kirby Berlin

Café Biz 09 again played host to the 2009 Pura Milk Latte Art Championship with over 20 competitors from around the nation. The line up was impressive as we witnessed an array of fresh ideas in latte art with a new edge.

Each barista went under the pump with 5 minutes to create 1 cappuccino, 1 café latte, 1 macchiato and 1 freestyle/designer beverage presented onstage in front of an eager crowd. The competitors showed their innovative ideas creating more than the traditional rosetta, offering up dragons, Indians, fish, a worm in an apple and more.

World Champion Latte Artist Con Haralambopoulos worked the floor as Head Judge overseeing the arduous task of tasting 88 coffees over the two days.  Thanks to Mario Vescio from Global Coffee and Sam Garbrielian of Café de Gabriel who judged not only the skills of the art but also the taste and presentation of the coffees.

With nerves of steel each competitor rose to the occasion with Kirby Berlin, the first competitor of the event actually managing to hold all the others at bay to stay on top of the point scores and take out first place. Second placing went to Scott Callaghan, while in third place we saw a relative new comer to the stage in Fiefy Anuwatanaphorm.

Thanks to Pura for their continual support enabling competitions like this to continue to provide a training ground for baristas in furthering there confidence, skills and the future of coffee.
