The Da Vinci Gourmet Trans Tasman Barista Cup

Friendly competition has always existed between Australia and New Zealand in sport, academic achievement and industry. The coffee industry has had a friendly rivalry existing now for a decade with both countries baristas only getting to face off at each others skills at world barista competitions. Café Culture Magazine Australia and Café Magazine New Zealand have had a good working relationship now for a couple of years, sharing industry ideas and developments across the Tasman. The Trans Tasman was put forward by Michael Guy, the Editor of “Café Magazine to run a Joint Barista Competition between the two Countries. Café Culture’s Editor Sean Edwards formally agreed and went about with the joint organisation of the event.

Both countries have been canvassing heavily for their six best baristas. So far to date we believe that this will be one of the best line ups of previous country and international Barista Champions.
